From the Principal

karen waggonerHello families, friends, and visitors—welcome to Jacob! I would like to take a moment to introduce myself as your new principal. My name is Karen Waggoner and I join the Jacob family after spending the last 17 years in education as a teacher, leader, and administrator both in the Archdiocese of Louisville and JCPS. I am originally from Louisville, but went to school in Miami, Florida and received by Bachelor’s Degree from Florida State University. I then received my Master’s Degree from Indiana University and Rank 1 as an Educational Specialist from Bellarmine University.

My core beliefs as your new school leader are to develop and maintain a safe and nurturing environment, engaging instruction with high expectations, and a positive climate for each and every child. We, at Jacob, are committed to working together to ensure that these factors are in place and constantly being improved upon.

I look forward to meeting each of you and working together for the success of your child.

Anita OverallThis school year will be awesome here at Jacob Elementary! My name is A’Nita M. Overall, and I come from a family of educators. Counselor

Amber NapierHello and welcome! I am so excited to serve as your new school counselor at Jacob Elementary. I have been a proud member of the Jacob family for five years now where I previously worked on the Kindergarten team. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and recently completed my masters in school counseling at Indiana University Southeast.

I have been so honored to work closely with the Jacob community to expand my knowledge of the role of a school counselor and create my own comprehensive school guidance program. As your school counselor, I want you to completely understand my vision, role and purpose.

My first obligation is advocating for our students and ensuring their needs are met. It is my belief that our students deserve a safe learning environment where they are respected and heard. I will strive to serve as a devoted leader and help to make integral decisions with the students’ best interest in mind. The mission of the Jacob Elementary school counseling program is to collaborate with parents, teachers and community members to advocate for and provide every child a comprehensive and developmental counseling program that creates lifelong learners and ensures each stakeholder achieves their highest potential in the aspects of educational, career, cognitive and social-emotional development. Thank you to everyone who has already helped, assisted and supported me this school year. Please let me know any way I can assist you and your child this year.

I am so delighted to begin this new adventure here at Jacob and look forward to working with you!

Megan RockHi, Jacob families! I am so excited to serve as Jacob’s second school counselor! I received my undergraduate degree from Georgetown College and my graduate degree from the University of Louisville. I taught third-grade students here for four years, and I consider myself very lucky to get to work with Jacob’s students and families through this position. Mrs. Napier and I have designed and implemented a comprehensive school counseling program that includes classroom guidance, individual and group counseling, and student support. My role is to work with all stakeholders to ensure that students have their academic and social-emotional needs met. It is the mission of the Jacob Elementary School counseling program “to collaborate with parents, teachers, and community members to advocate for and provide every child a comprehensive and developmental counseling program that creates lifelong learners and ensures each stakeholder achieves their highest potential in the aspects of educational, career, cognitive, and social-emotional development.” It is my promise to you that I will always work to fulfill this mission and do what is best for students.
