Greetings From Amy Fallahay

Hi, I'm Amy Fallahay, the media specialist at Frayser Elementary. Another name for my job is librarian. The Frayser Media Center/Library is a vital part of the learning that takes place here at Frayser Elementary School. Frayser students and staff use the Frayser Media Center to locate all kinds of information. When you want to be in the know, the Frayser library is the place to be.

• To stimulate the students' interest in and awareness of reading a variety of types of literature

Library Policies

Faculty Checkout Policy

• Frayser staff may check out books whenever they need them. They are asked to return the books within a month.
• They may choose the books for themselves or ask the media specialist to select the materials for them.

Student Checkout Policy

• Students in kindergarten through grade two may check out one book at a time.
• Students in grades three through five may check out two books.
• Students are responsible for the books they check out. They need to pay replacement costs for books that are lost or damaged.
• Classroom teachers determine if students are allowed to take books home.

Loan Periods

• Students in kindergarten through grade five check out their books for a period of one week. If they finish their books before the week is up or if they forget their books on library day, they may exchange them in the morning from 8:30 to 9 a.m.
• A book may be renewed if the student is not yet finished with it by the due date, unless others are waiting to check it out.
• Students must return overdue books before additional books may be checked out.

Library Events

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is held twice a year. The proceeds raised from the book fair are used to purchase materials for the general library collection.
