Meyzeek Middle School

Ivy League Team, Grade Six

John Dickey, Mathematics

I am a lifelong resident of the Louisville area. I enjoy travel and camping, and have been fortunate to see America, Mexico, Canada, and many European countries.

I was educated at Purdue, IUS, Bellarmine and U of L, while studying Science, Math and Psychology. At Meyzeek, I coach Cross County and sponsor Math Olympiad.

I am married and a father of two daughters, both in the public school system, and I have a dog.

I believe all kids can benefit from the world of Mathematics. Math along with Science allows the student to learn to arrange, organize and make sense of info in their lives.

Abby Palof, Language Arts

The 2015-16 school year is my eighth year teaching and eighth year at Meyzeek. I moved to Louisville from my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, after completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio. In 2013, I completed my Master’s Degree through Bellarmine University with a focus in K-12 Literacy.

I believe literacy skills are necessary for academic success in all subjects and are a civil right. I strive to develop lifelong reading and writing habits in my students and enjoy watching them grow into literate young adults.

Carrie Wilson, Science

I began teaching middle school science for Jefferson County Public Schools in 2007. I have a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education: Life Sciences from Indiana University and a Master's degree in Secondary Science Education from Western Governors University.

Originally from Saint Meinrad, Indiana, I have lived in Louisville for over 12 years. My husband, Pip, and I have one daughter, Olivia, who is studying the arts at Indiana University Southeast. We absolutely love living in Louisville. We also try to travel back to my husband’s home country, England, as often as possible.

I have a passion for all things scientific, but my deepest educational passion lies in cultivating positive, meaningful relationships with all of my students.
