Application Process

    Saturday, October 28, 2017, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Meyzeek Prospective Student Open House: November 16, 2017, 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Meyzeek Application Due: December 15, 2017

Before submitting application materials to Meyzeek, parents/guardians must complete the online JCPS school choice component of the process. To do so, click the green "Register and Apply" button or go to: https://webapps.jefferson.kyschools.us/

Eligible Students

The following students can apply for admission to Meyzeek Middle School MST Magnet Program:

  1. Any current 5th, 6th or 7th grade student living within our MST resides.
  2. Any current 5th, 6th or 7th grade Meyzeek neighborhood resides student planning on attending Meyzeek.
  3. Any 6th or 7th grade Meyzeek student living within our MST resides and who is not currently in the MST program.

*Students already accepted into the MST program need not reapply.

Admissions Criteria

The Meyzeek Admission Committee will review the following criteria for acceptance:

  1. Academic Record – Grade point average of 3.2 or higher over the past 2 years.
  2. Standardized Test Results – Above average test scores on the KPREP during the last 2 years.  Test scores for non-KY or private school can include the California Test of Basic Skills, Terra Nova, Stanford Test of Academic Skills, etc.
  3. Attendance Record – An attendance record of 96% or higher over the past 2 years.
  4. Behavior Record – Consistently and/or frequently displays behavior expectations based on the report card, and no discipline referrals.
  5. Magnet Admissions Survey – Must demonstrate a commitment in an extracurricular or community activity. Complete survey.
  6. Short Answer writing prompts – Proficient or above quality.  Included in the Magnet Admissions Survey.

Admissions Process

  1. Before submitting application materials to Meyzeek, parents/guardians must complete the online JCPS school choice component of the process. To do so, click the green square "Register and Apply" button found on the Jefferson County Public School’s website. Once the application has been processed, the first choice school is notified of the application.  The deadline to complete this step is December 15, 2017.  Move to Step 2.
  2. Submit a Magnet Admissions Survey to Meyzeek on our school’s websiteThis list of extracurricular and service activities and two writing prompts can be completed and submitted electronically at www.meyzeek.org via the admissions tab.  The deadline to complete this step is December 15 by 4:00pm. 
  3. Obtain transcripts.
    1. If your child is a JCPS student, only Steps 1 and 2 are necessary.  We will receive all data points electronically.
    2. If your child is not currently a JCPS student, please submit an application packet (in addition to the online Magnet Admissions Survey) to the Meyzeek office no later than December 15, 2017 at 4:00pm.  The packet should include the following:
      • report cards for two prior school years plus current school year’s 1st semester grades
      • standardized test results for prior two school years
      • attendance record for prior two school years plus the current school year
