Where High School Meets College

Western High School strives to provide all students with the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school and to assist in their successful transition to postsecondary education. At Western, our students graduate college-ready, career-experienced, goal-driven, and reality-certain.

Comprehensive Program

At Western High School, we expect all students to perform at their highest levels. Our comprehensive program is a high-standards curriculum that follows Kentucky Core Content.

Honors Program

Western's honors program incorporates a more rigorous course sequence with extensive reading and writing activities. Students must maintain a 2.75 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale to remain in the program.

Advance Program

Students at Western may choose advance studies in a single class or multiple classes. To participate in the Advance Program course offerings, students must have teacher, counselor, and parent recommendation letters and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.

Early College at Western High School

Western students are able to earn up to 60 college credits by the time they graduate high school, tuition-free! Those college credits apply to programs at Jefferson Community & Technical College (JCTC) or any Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) college and transfer to all Kentucky public colleges and universities, giving students a head start on their college careers. Our educational program aims to bridge the gap between high school and college and to target those first-generation college-goers who might not otherwise pursue a college degree.
