Meet Our Assistant Principal

Welcome from Assistant Principal Brian C. Smith

Hello Layne Lions! I am truly honored to be the new Assistant Principal at Layne Elementary. I look forward to working with all Layne students, staff, parents and community to make Layne the best it can be. I am extremely excited to be here at Layne and look forward to building relationships, providing instructional support, maintaining a safe and inviting environment and anything else to better the Layne Lion Family.

My academic background consists of a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of Louisville in addition to a Rank 1 in Counseling from Western Kentucky University and a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of the Cumberlands. I have 11 years of experience in education; my first seven years were spent teaching and coaching at Bullitt East High School and the last four I served as a Counselor at Louisville Male High School.

When I’m not working, I’m spending time with my amazing family. My wife and I have been married for 10 years and we have three boys. I enjoy the small things in life and love competition. My hobbies are working out, playing and watching sports.
