Meyzeek Middle School is fortunate to have a Community School Program in the building. This program provides safe after-school activities. Students are encouraged to get involved in the Community School throughout the year. Specific information can be obtained by calling the Community School directly at 584-8603.

Community Schools are designed to provide intergenerational, educational, social, cultural, and recreational activities for empowering students and families to maximize their potential. As well as working with community residents, each program focuses on working with community agencies and organizations to enhance the programming provided. Meyzeek's Community School Program site is unique, much like the community it serves.

Programs Offered at Meyzeek’s Community School

CLASP (Cooperative Learning After School Program)

Meets every Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Academic enrichment
  • Anger management
  • Positive peer relationships
  • Family Nights (Tuesdays 5:30-7:30)
  • Academic and team building field trips

E.Y.L. (Emerging Young Leaders)

Meets the second Tuesday of every month from 6 to 7 p.m.
  • Open to girls grades six through eight
  • Leadership development
  • Civic engagement
  • Enhanced academic preparation
  • Character building
  • Smart choices with positive consequences

Music Box

Keyboard lessons Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
  • Guitar lessons Thursdays from 2:30-5:30
  • FREE keyboard and guitar lessons
  • Thirty-minute lessons once per week
  • Individualized learning

Zumba Classes

Every Monday and Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m.
