Dr. April

Greetings, Jaguar Students, Parents, and Staff,

I am truly honored to be the new principal at Johnson Traditional Middle School. I am a Louisville native, wife, and mother of three. I graduated from Louisville Male Traditional High School and the University of Kentucky. I recently received a doctorate degree from Bellarmine University. I have experience as a teacher and assistant principal at both the middle and high school levels. It is my goal as principal to promote the traditional values, build relationships with all stakeholders, and provide rigorous instruction for all students in a safe and caring environment. I am looking forward to meeting all parents at our upcoming Open House. I am a visible leader, so students will see me in the hallways greeting them and teachers. Our school focus is on the new digital backpack, building school culture, and implementing a race/equity plan to move the school forward. Each day on the morning announcements, I remind students of our expectation to walk with Jaguar P.R.I.D.E. (positive attitude, responsibility, integrity, dignity, and empathy). My goal is for every student to achieve academic excellence, exude school pride, and demonstrate citizenship.

I will do my best every day for each one of my students. I lead by example and hold myself to high expectations by challenging myself professionally to improve and continue learning. I am committed to educating students and giving them an opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Student involvement in extracurricular activities is a great way for students to gain a sense of belonging and connection to Johnson. I will continue to provide them with opportunities to participate in academic programs, sports, and clubs. Helping students achieve their goals is a partnership between school staff and parents. I welcome communication with parents to meet the needs of students. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year. I look forward to serving the students at Johnson as a visible, supportive principal.
