Born and raised in Louisville, Mrs. Woods is a product of the JCPS system and is delighted to be a part of the Jaguar family at the best middle school in the district! Mrs. Woods has served children and families for 25 years as a high school language arts teacher, a high school guidance counselor, an elementary principal intern, and a middle school assistant principal. Mrs. Woods earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Kentucky, her Master of Arts degree in Secondary Guidance Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University, and her Principal Certification from Indiana University Southeast. Mrs. Woods considers herself a lifelong learner and is currently working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership at the University of Louisville. Mrs. Woods is the proud mother of two daughters, Taylor (Louisville Male High School, Class of 2014) and Karrington (Dupont Manual High School, Class of 2019). In her spare time, Mrs. Woods enjoys spending time with her husband Kevin and her girls, reading, and gardening. While at Johnson, Mrs. Woods believes she has one primary job: to provide an environment that optimizes student safety, student learning, and student growth. She believes that when given the opportunity, all students possess the ability and intrinsic desire to learn at high levels both academically and socially. Through the collaborative efforts of both parents and the school, Mrs. Woods believes that thoughts can become actions, ideas can become plans, and dreams can become realities.
