Cell Phone Policy

We want to promote acceptable use of technology in the classroom. Should a student violate this the teacher will ask the student to correct the behavior and put the cell phone away. If the issue continues the teacher will call SRT.

Acceptable Usage

  1. Teachers will be permitted, but not required, to use cell phones and other telecommunication devices for instructional purposes.
  2. Teachers and staff may not require students to bring a device and must supply adequate means for all students to participate in a given class period if devices are being used for instructional purposes.
  3. Students will be permitted to use their device during instructional time only when permitted by the classroom teacher.
  4. Students will be permitted to use their device during non-instructional time (i.e. before school, during class period transitions, lunch, after school)
  5. Students using cell phones or other electronic devices in any manner that disrupts the educational environment or violates the rights of others will be subject to disciplinary action.
  6. Personal devices are the responsibility of each student, Ballard High School staff is not responsible for lost or stolen devices.
  7. The use of the camera and/or video functions are forbidden at any time unless clearly defined within an instructional activity.
  8. Cell phone usage during any and all assessments is prohibited
