Dress Code

Hawthorne Elementary students follows the following dress code.

Shirts
Any solid-color, button-down with a collar, polo with a collar, or turtleneck; logos no larger than one square inch unless school logo
Undershirts
Solid gray, white, navy, or black; including long-sleeved t-shirts worn under uniform shirts
Sweatshirts
Hawthorne Spiritwear of any color or solid colors gray, white, navy, or black worn over a uniform shirt
Hoodies
Hawthorne Spiritwear of any color or solid colors gray, white, navy, or black worn over a uniform shirt; pull-over or zip-up
Sweaters
Solid gray, white, navy, or black worn over a uniform shirt
Slacks/Shorts
Solid navy, khaki, or black; no pockets on the leg; shorts at a modest length; worn at waist
Skirts/Skorts
Solid navy, khaki, or black; at a modest length
Jumpers
Solid navy, khaki, or black; at a modest length
Uniform Dresses
Solid navy, khaki, or black; at a modest length
Leggings/Tights
Solid gray, white, navy, or black; worn under skirt, skorts, shorts, jumpers, or uniform dresses
Socks
Solid gray, white, navy, or black if visible when the student is standing
Shoes
Any color flat, closed-toe, and closed-heel shoes; footwear must be safe and functional
Belts
Belts are not required; however, if worn, must be black, brown, or navy
Dangle earrings are not permitted to be worn at Hawthorne.
The hoods on hoodies, coats, and jackets may not be worn in the building.

Students may wear non-uniform shorts, non-uniform skirts, and non-uniform pants on Fridays with a suggested $1 donation toward a designated fund. The last school-day Friday of each month anyone can participate without a $1 donation. All clothing must be of modest fit and modest length.

Students may always wear Hawthorne Spiritwear T-shirts on Fridays without a $1 donation.

Students may wear hats on Thursday with a suggested $0.25 donation to the Crusade for Children.
